The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Education department has a long-standing mission to bring science learning to the community and we have been fortunate to work with them since the 2017-2018 school year. The first phase brings our teachers to the museum for an introduction to the AMNH approach to science learning for young children, which emphasizes playful, interesting and fun experiences. The teachers discuss ideas and participate in exercises designed to help them integrate science into the classroom. The AMNH uses software to assist teachers in planning activities and they work with them to utilize it. Then it is off to the exhibit hall for some direct observation and then back to the classroom for more discussion. See slideshow below:
