Dr. Paula Pineda and her team of graduate students from Teachers College bilingual speech-language development program are conducting a research study on emergent literacy, in collaboration with Bloomingdale. On Fridays, children in classrooms #1 and #4 will have visitors who will bring some fun with them. First, there will be a large group story-telling activity. Next, activities involving books, play, arts and crafts, role-playing games, and music and movement will promote emerging literacy skills. Recently the team conducted baseline assessments of where the children are with some literacy benchmarks.
