Free summer opportunity for teens ages 15-18:
Join MoMA’s free summer art program, In the Making! This hands-on program is designed for New York City high school students ages 15–18. Throughout the summer, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance your artistic skills, build your portfolio, and immerse yourself in the art world of New York City. Under the guidance of MoMA educators, you’ll explore various art making techniques such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to work on a project based on your own interests during independent studio time.
Throughout the program, you’ll have access to new materials and MoMA’s extensive art collection. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet working artists and museum professionals through studio visits, artist talks, and gallery and museum visits.
The program will culminate in an exhibition where you’ll showcase the work you’ve created at MoMA.
In the Making participants will meet at MoMA three times a week for seven weeks from July 9 to August 22, 2024. Attendance at every class is required. MoMA will provide all art materials, MetroCards for transportation to and from the Museum, snacks, and any other costs associated with participating.
To apply, you must complete the application. Applications are due by Monday June 6 at 11:59 p.m. Email momateens@moma.org with any questions

Participants in New York’s Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and the “Essential” plan should update their contact info with their provider because New York State is resuming eligibility reviews and renewals for those enrolled in those programs. This means they might need to take action to renew health insurance. To be sure you receive notice of any reviews or changes, here’s what you can do now to get ready:
- Sign up for text alerts from NY State of Health by texting START to 1-866-988-0327.
- Make sure your mailing address is up to date by calling NY State of Health at 1-855-355-5777 (TTY: 1-800-662-1220); by logging into your account at nystateofhealth.ny.gov, or by contacting an enrollment “assistor” if you’re enrolled in Medicaid through New York City’s Human Resources Administration.
When it’s time to renew health insurance, enrollees will receive a letter from NY State of Health or a renewal packet if you enrolled through HRA. Follow the instructions right away!
