Our First Week at School

Phase in started on Monday, with half the children and their parents attending for a shortened day. Tuesday, the other half came, and Wednesday all the children attended and the school day included breakfast and lunch and an early departure at 1:00. Thursday, our first full school day included breakfast, lunch, nap and a snack – our new school year had begun.

Separating from parents to go to school is a process, with some children showing their feelings right at the start of school and others expressing themselves later or in less apparent ways. The teachers at Bloomingdale are very familiar with how to help young children with this transition.

Our blog “Separation at Bloomingdale” can be helpful and you can read the books on our recommendations list with your child.

Welcome to a new school year!
