Elizabeth Oppong is another dynamic board member brought to us by BoardLead. Elizabeth is an Investment Banking Associate at Evercore Partners and she has been working with our fiscal office as part of her work on the Finance Committee. She wanted to see our classrooms in action, so she came for a morning before the Covid-19 shutdown.
Afterward she said, “I was impressed by how confident, engaged, and warm the children were. They ran up to me and were excited to show me their toys and the games they were playing. In addition, I was excited to see the Bloomingdale model in effect. The therapists were on site in the room, and there was a powerful synergy. Both the kids receiving the therapy and those around them benefitted from the service. This was very different from my personal educational experience where students with special needs or services were separated from the rest of the class.”
Elizabeth was referring to our in-house preventative services, in which our play therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists work with the children in the classrooms, and in our therapy rooms. Our Tapestry of Care has had tremendous results for many years and you can read more about it here.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for coming to play. As you can see from the slideshow, you had a special attraction for our children.
