Parents of young children can find themselves struggling as their children are growing and asserting themselves, sometimes in ways that are disruptive to family schedules. In March, our curriculum consultant Betsy Evans gave a workshop on “Responding to Power Struggles & Avoiding Meltdowns: What to do when you want one thing and your child wants the opposite.”
Betsy gave insights into why a child might insist on a wholly inappropriate outfit, making everyone late in the morning. She unpeeled the layers to show parents what is underlying the conflict, and how that knowledge can help parents resolve the situation.
